Landscape Design as a Strategic Investment in Your Property
A professionally designed landscape is one of the highest-return investments a property owner in Notre Dame, IN can make. Studies consistently show that well-executed landscape design adds between 10 and 15 percent to residential property values, while also significantly reducing time on market when properties are listed for sale. But the financial return is only part of the value proposition. A thoughtfully designed outdoor space fundamentally changes how you experience your property, creating defined areas for outdoor living, visual interest from interior windows, and a cohesive aesthetic connection between the built structures and the surrounding land.
Kelly Landscaping's design process in Notre Dame, IN begins with an in-depth site analysis that most design firms skip entirely. We measure sun and shade patterns at different times of day, evaluate soil drainage rates, identify compaction zones, note existing utilities and easements, and document mature trees and structural plants that should be incorporated into the new design. This analytical foundation prevents the most common landscape design failures: plants placed in unsuitable sun conditions, installations that create drainage problems against foundations, and designs that look good on paper but fail to function well in actual use.
Our designers produce detailed, professional drawings that include a base plan showing all existing conditions, a design overlay with precise placement of every plant and hardscape element, a plant list with mature sizes and seasonal interest characteristics, and a phased implementation plan if the full scope is intended to be built out over multiple seasons. We present these drawings to clients with a clear explanation of every decision so that the final approved plan is one both parties fully understand before the first shovel enters the ground.

Our Landscape Design Service Process in Notre Dame, IN
Every landscape design project Kelly Landscaping undertakes in Notre Dame, IN follows a structured process that prioritizes thorough planning, precise execution, and clear client communication. Before any work begins, we schedule a site visit to assess current conditions, document relevant property characteristics, and develop a service scope that is directly responsive to what we observe rather than what a generic program template prescribes. This investment in upfront evaluation is the foundation of results that our clients can see and measure.
We provide written documentation of every service we perform, including the products used, the rates applied, the areas treated, and any observations our technicians note during the visit. These records allow both our team and our clients to track the property's progress over time and make evidence-based decisions about adjustments to the ongoing program. Our account managers review these records before every scheduled visit so that our crews arrive with current knowledge of your property's condition and history.
